Sudanese Refugees
Modbury
Uniting Church has as one of its objectives a strong sense of Social Justice and
aims to achieve this by focusing on the plight of refugees in the Sudan.
Over the last year the church has
welcomed many families into our church and helped them settle in Modbury and has
pledged to help others as funds allow.
We support our families in many
practical ways including help in finding accommodation, clothing, furniture,
suitable jobs and schooling for children.
In November of 2007 we welcomed
another sponsored family from Sudan and our church
community is now assisting them to settle into their new environment and come to
grips with a different culture. We are now in the throes of sponsoring
another family and are hoping that they will be with us some time in May. Again
there will be great excitement when the new arrivals will meet up with some of
their extended family who have been in Adelaide for some time.
Recently two Sudanese families who
have been part of the Modbury Uniting Church congregation for sometime have
moved into their own homes in Andrews Farm. We wish them well as they settle
into their new homes.
